A short review and zoom test of the Nikon Coolpix P520. The 42x zoom is amazing, it takes good quality image and video for a digital camera. Between the zoom and image/video quality, it's a very good camera. This is a great camera for long distance shooting! Other positives are the large flip screen and full manual controls. The bad... it crashes sometimes when processing images/videos and needs to be restarted. This eats up valuable battery power and creates a lot of missed shot opportunities. Also, the auto focus is a bit slow at times. These are significant knocks on an otherwise solid camera. This camera will not compete with DSLR/SLR cameras.The Nikon P520 is priced just under basic DSLR/SLR cameras. Making it one of the more expensive digital cameras you can buy. But, not many digital cameras can pick up fishing line from a boat several miles off shore.
