Using firmware update V1.32 and ptools 3.36 to modify the video bit rate, overall video bit rate and limiting bit rate to give a 40Mbit avchd codec performance. Although the bit rate substantailly increases from around 15Mbit to around 30Mbit the overall gain in quality is very subjective IMHO. Less macro blockiness in shadow detail and areas of similar texture are the only real benefits, resolution does not change. Using class 6 sdhc card ( or x40 card) no data loss or write errors were noticed over many test clips and different zoom and pan operations - so the results would appear to be stable. Modification to the motion jpeg was less successful, continuous card write errors were experienced due to either high subject detail levels or panning and zooming. 1920x1080 might be achievable with class 10 card as the data rates were 60 -70 Mbits. Even at 1440 x 1280 i could not get stable conditions even using default quality and estimation table settings. Once i have a class 10 card i will repeat the tests. At the moment the satic shots look very clean and well detailed, but not reliable for motion subjects or high detail.
