Like other models in the award-winning line-up, this high quality digital compact features cutting edge technology and an eye-catching retro design that makes it the perfect choice both for those wanting to upgrade their existing compact or more advanced users after a second 'back up' camera.High quality results are assured from the XF1 thanks to its newly developed 4x zoom lens. Covering 25-100mm (35mm equivalent) the manual zoom lens gives quick and precise control over framing so you never miss a shot. It also features a fast maximum aperture of f/1.8, which means you can create professional-looking images with blurred backgrounds, or shoot more easily in low light conditions without needing a tripod or an increase in ISO sensitivity. The lens itself is constructed from seven elements, all of which are treated with Fujinon's own Wide-band High Transmittance Electron Beam Coating process, which reduces ghosting and flare for sharp, clear results on every shot. Plus, it also features a unique Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) mechanism that helps to combat camera shake in low light. For users who like to shoot close-up images, the XF1 can focus down to just 3cm and, when not in use, the lens ring can be pushed into the body to make the camera smaller and more pocketable.The XF1 uses Fujifilm's EXR-CMOS sensor, which modifies the way it works according to the scene being photographed. At 2/3-inch, the 12 megapixel sensor is also larger than most you'll find in compact cameras, so high quality results are assured. Everyone can take full advantage of the XF1's potential by using the EXR Auto mode. Here, the camera automatically selects one of 103 different sensor settings according to the scene's demands, making high quality images easy to achieve, regardless of ability or subject matter. Users who would rather take more control themselves can choose 1 of 3 sensor modes: HR (High Resolution) for the very best results in bright lighting conditions; DR (Dynamic Range) for optimum quality in conditions when there are lots of bright and dark areas in the image; and SN (High ISO, low noise) for great images in lower light conditions. Coupled to the EXR-CMOS sensor is a powerful EXR processor that ensures the XF1 delivers a fast, responsive performance in all conditions. It's ready to use in just 0.55 seconds, will focus in as little as 0.16 seconds, and has a minimum shot-to-shot time of just 0.8 seconds. Additionally, the EXR processor offers high-speed processing for hassle-free HD movie recording and burst-mode photography.All models in Fujifilm's X-series are well made to exacting standards and the XF1 is no exception. The retro-styled body is light and durable thanks to its aluminium construction, while the synthetic leather covering offers improved grip and a quality feel. There's even a choice of colours – tan or black. It's not just about form over function, either. The main command dial simplifies the task of altering the shutter speed and aperture for those who want to take full control over every shot, while up to six frequently used settings can be assigned to the Function button. Viewing and reviewing images is simple, too, thanks to the 3.0-inch LCD monitor that features 460,000 dots for crystal clear images and menus along with tempered glass to protect it from scratches.For the artists amongst you, the XF1 features a new advanced filter option. Choose from 11 creative filters; Pop colour, Toy camera, Miniature, High-key, Dynamic tone, and 6 Partial colour options (shoot in B&W plus one selective colour: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple) for truly creative images.
