Now to start to start off with, this is probably going to be a relatively short video, because to be totally theres not a huge amount of differences between the Nikon D5500 and the Nikon D5600, but if you don’t already own one of these two cameras, hopefully I can help you make the right decision. WeightSo one small difference that you might not have known about between these two cameras is the weight. The D5600 now comes with the new Snapbridge system which will allow to you transfer your photos wirelessly to your phone, and in doing, probably needs some new internals. So D5600 is actually 45 grames heavier than the older D5500. Look is it enough to feel a difference? Probably not, but if you are looking for an ultimate lightweight DSLR, the D5500 will win this round. TimelapseOne feature which I do really like that’s on the new Nikon D5600 and not not he D5500 is the timelapse mode. So whereas on the D5500 if you want to make a time-lapse, you’ll need to generally use an intervalometer and bring the photos back into post and then stitch them together, on the D5600 it’s all built in and it works great. Now if you don’t take a lot of videos or timelapses on your DSLR, this isn’t a huge deal, but if you or if you want to get into something logging where timelapses are used often, then the D5600 will be better. SnapbridgeOf course the big new upgrade for the D5600 over the D5500 is it’s inclusion of snap bridge technology. I’ve reviewed a few other Nikon cameras this year including the D500 and the D3400, and they both includuded so it was nice to see that Nikon brought this to the D5600. So essentially what Snapbridge allows you to do is wirelessly transfer your photos to your smartphone or tablet. This can be really good if you’re out in the field and want to share the nice photos you take on your DSLR on places like instagram and Facebook. If you’re happy to just take out your sd card and put it in your computer then it’s not a big deal, but if you’re on the move and want to transfer photos to your phone, the D5600’s snap bridge inclusion is pretty sweet.AvailabilityOne thing that I wanted to talk about quickly is the actual availability of the D5600. I actually had to order this one from London to get it in for review as at the time of release, Nikon don’t have the D5600 for sale in the US. So obviously the D5500 is easier to get, which means you might be able to get it quicker. But I’ve actually been searching a lot for the D5600 for my american viewers, which is most of my subscribers, and I’ve actually found the D5600 on Amazon so if you want to check it out, I’ll put a link to it in the description below. It does come in and out of stock very often, so no guarentees it’ll be there when you watch this, but it does seem like the only place to get one if you’re in America at the moment. PriceAnd I think it’s really important when comparing these two cameras that we talk about price and value for money. Obviously you can tell that I think that there’s not a huge difference between these two cameras. In fact it’s a bit silly of Nikon to bring out a D5600 that’s not a bigger step up. But in saying that, this is where things get really intereting, if you look at the price of the D5500, it comes in at $600. But I was to able to find the D5600, the new version, for the exact same price on Amazon. Again, I don’t know how long that listing is going to last for, but at the same price, with the snap bridge and time-lapse built in, the D5600 is the one I’d be buying any day. Now if you’ve already got a Nikon D5500, don’t stress you’ve got a great camera and it’s not worth upgrading to the D5600 for you, but if you’re choosing between the D5500 and the D5600, if you can get it at the price that i’ve found it for, it’s a steal.
