I think the digital zoom shows more detail than cropping 60x 4k video. It looks like it would be worth it to use digital zoom when recording 4k video. Cropping the digital 4k zoom down to 1080p would give a 240x zoom with decent quality. Using digital zoom on stills is still not worth it in my opinion since you don't really get more detail.
