Visit Faroe Islands invited me to explore their breathtaking islands for a couple of days in May and I was overwhelmed off the beauty: It just felt being on another planet. After seeing images from the islands on social media before I couldn't believe it when I was finally going there. This definitely is one of the last wild places in Europe and with just a population of 50.000 open minded people and gentle tourism you don’t feel like a tourist but like an explorer.During that time Sony Europe also hosted a competition where I should create a video only using their RX0 cameras. Equipped with two of those, some mounts and a lot of tape I accepted the challenge and beside my busy schedule doing photography work for the local tourism board I was able to shot this video and got captain Sigmar in front of my lens on one of the ferry rides. The RX0 is water and shockproof but features a 24mm F4 Zeiss lens (35mm on full frame) which makes it an ultra compact camera with a good sensor. Being used to bigger Sony cameras it was quite a challenge to set everything up over a tiny display but it worked out in the end. What bugged me was: no autofocus for video (I had to manually focus over the tiny screen), no internal image stabilization, no internal 4K recording and the battery life (with a microphone attached also consuming power) they lasted like 30 min max. I am looking forward to see what the next generation of these cameras can do but for now I am sticking to my bigger Sony gear as I am much faster in setting a shot up. I can only think of some circumstance where I would actually prefer the RX0 over my A7R II: shots where I can’t bring or mount my bigger camera but want better quality and another angle than from a GoPro like for sports, on an airplane (mounted on a wing), on a car or underwater.Have a look at the detailed travel route here:https://www.polarsteps.com/sieklas/62...Follow me:Instagram: @sieklas https://www.instagr.am/sieklas
