Photos at www.EnglishPhotographer.comA few months ago after my Nikon camera broke, I faced the decision to buy another Nikon dSLR or look towards Canon, Sony, Fujifilm or Pentax. I chose the Pentax K1 because I got a good deal on it and it offered the best overall image quality with the 36mp sensor and the pixel shift resolution. Having used it in professional photography work in Miami, Paris and London, I'd like to share my experience with using both. I found that even though the Pentax K1 is a newer camera and has better image quality, I used the Nikon D610 more. That was because the auto focus on the Nikon was faster and more accurate, and because the flash on the Nikon was much, much better than the Pentax K1. Also skin tones in artificial light were unpleasant on the Pentax and so the Nikon was easier to edit and the Jpegs from camera were better in more challenging lighting conditions. Overall though, I much preferred the Pentax K1 though for the image quality in the right lighting conditions, usually natural light, and for the many different features that are useful and innovative for photographers like the in-body shake reduction and the tiltable LCD screen. So the Pentax K1 is still the best camera I've ever used, but I found that the Nikon was used more because it's more versatile.
