This video compares the shooting speed of these two entry-level DSLR bodies. 2.5fps for the D40 and 3fps delivered by the D40x. Maybe they aren't that fast, but compared to my old FM2 that shot as fast as I could crank the shutter, it's like driving a Cadillac.
