Several people have asked me about using external microphones with the Lumix bridge cameras and the GH1 and GH2. The manual clearly states you must ONLY use the Panasonic MS-1 to avoid damage to the camera. Well I have used many mics with these very cameras and also used mic mixers to feed the camera and I have never experienced any issues at all. In this video I offer some practical solutions to external mics and how to best adapt the usual 3.5mm plug to the 2.5mm socket on the camera.
